Uzbekistan's March Auto Sales Surge Signals Strategic Growth in Vehicle Market
March 2026 sees a 19% increase in light vehicle sales in Uzbekistan, reflecting robust demand and regional growth trends.

In March 2026, Uzbekistan’s automotive market demonstrated significant growth with over 78,000 light vehicles sold. This strong performance marks a 19% month-over-month increase and a 20.6% rise compared to March 2025, signaling the country’s automotive sector entering a sustained growth phase.
Market Dynamics and Regional Performance
The total number of all types of vehicles sold, including both primary and secondary markets, reached 93,500 units in March, an 11.1% increase from February. Of these, approximately 31,000 were new vehicles while the remaining 47,500 were sales in the secondary market.
Regional data reveals a widespread upward trend in vehicle sales with notable exceptions. Jizzakh, Andijan, and Samarkand regions experienced declines, while Surkhandarya region led with a 51.4% increase in sales volume. Tashkent region also recorded a substantial 46% growth.
Capital city Tashkent witnessed an exceptional surge, with the light vehicle market growing by 60.5% in a single month. Additionally, positive sales trends were observed in Sirdarya and Navoi regions, contributing to the overall national growth.
"The consistent rise in sales across most regions reflects growing consumer confidence and expanding market opportunities in Uzbekistan's automotive sector," analysts noted.
Primary Market and New Vehicle Segment Expansion
The primary automotive market showed vigorous expansion with approximately 31,000 new light vehicles sold in March. This represents a 13% increase month-over-month and an impressive 37% year-over-year growth. Locally manufactured vehicles accounted for 25,000 units sold, reflecting a 26.5% year-on-year increase, underscoring the rising competitiveness of domestic production.
Foreign-made new vehicles experienced even faster growth, with sales nearly doubling month-over-month to reach 5,700 units. This segment's rapid expansion highlights increasing consumer demand for international automotive brands and diverse vehicle options.
Secondary Market and Electric Vehicles
The secondary market contributed significantly to overall sales with 47,500 used light vehicles sold, marking a 23% increase from the previous month and a 12% increase compared to the previous year. This segment remains critical in meeting consumer demand for affordable vehicle options.
Electric vehicles also gained momentum, with 5,500 units sold in March, representing a 24% year-over-year increase. This growth reflects expanding interest in sustainable transportation options within Uzbekistan, aligning with global automotive industry trends.
These data points indicate a favorable environment for automotive businesses and investors, with strategic opportunities for manufacturers, dealerships, and related service providers.
