Perhaps more alarming was an event at Leipzig airport on August 5, when a drone equipped with explosives and a detonator collided with a Ukrainian cargo aircraft. Although the device failed to detonate for undetermined reasons, the incident has drawn significant attention and is under investigation by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office of Germany.
"The situation with security in Germany and Europe has undergone fundamental changes in recent years, with hybrid threats manifesting daily," a Bundeswehr spokesperson explained.

In response to the growing drone threat, Germany's Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced plans to establish a new technological center dedicated to counter-UAV research and development. This center will be located at the German Aerospace Center's (DLR) test airfield in Saxony-Anhalt.
